Nessel Statements on the Passing of Judge E. Thomas Fitzgerald and Career Prosecutor Rodney Hassinger
January 04, 2019
LANSING - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel today released the following statements on the passing of two great legal minds in Michigan, Judge E. Thomas Fitzgerald and Rodney Hassinger.
REGARDING THE PASSING OF JUDGE FITZGERALD:
“My deepest condolences go to the family, friends and colleagues of Judge E. Thomas Fitzgerald, including his wife Kathy and daughter Jennifer, who both work in the Department of the Attorney General. Judge E. Thomas Fitzgerald will be remembered by his colleagues on the bench as a wonderful, caring man who was honored to serve the people of Michigan.”
REGARDING THE PASSING OF RODNEY HASSINGER:
“My heart goes out to Rod’s family – his wife Maryann, his son James and his daughter Sarah Clark. I was lucky to work with Rod in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was known as a great attorney and a master of practical jokes. His compassion and kindness as my boss and mentor, and his commitment to “family first,” set a foundation for all of us who worked for him. We tolerated his rabid fandom as an Ohio Buckeye because we loved him. He was an absolutely terrific guy and he will be deeply missed by all of us who knew him.”
