MI AG Nessel Kicks Off Elder Abuse Listening Tour in Grand Rapids

WHO:

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel

WHAT:

Pre-event media availability to discuss the Elder Abuse Task Force and the listening tour stop in Grand Rapids.

WHEN:

12:30PM – 12:45PM
Friday, June 14, 2019

WHERE:

Kent County Probate Court
180 Ottawa Avenue NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49503

WHY:

At least 73,000 older adults in Michigan are victims of elder abuse at the hands of individuals entrusted to care for them. The listening tour provides a forum for members of the senior community to share concerns surrounding this often underrecognized and underreported social problem. Abusers go to great lengths to harm the members of our most senior community in the forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Ensuring the safety and top-notch care for Michigan’s senior community is a top priority for the Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Task Force

RSVP:

Reporters must have valid media credentials and RSVP to Courtney Covington (covingtonc2@michigan.gov) by 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 to attend
