Grosse Pointe Man Sentenced for 2020 Sexual Assault of Child Relative
August 19, 2025
LANSING — Yesterday, Robert Allen DeClercq, 72, of Grosse Pointe, was sentenced to 25-60 years’ incarceration by Judge Cassandra Morse-Bills in the 23rd Circuit Court after being convicted in May by an Oscoda County jury of two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. In 2020, DeClercq assaulted a female minor relative in the bathroom of his secondary residence in Oscoda County.
“Sexual assault survivors deserve to see their abusers held accountable, and this sentencing demonstrates our ongoing commitment to justice,” Nessel said. “My office will continue to support victims and ensure perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.”
Following completion of a prison sentence, DeClercq would be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and sex offender registration.
