Attorney General Nessel Issues Statement on Passing of AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka
August 05, 2021
LANSING - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel released the following statement on the passing of AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka:
"I am so saddened to learn of the passing of AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka. From his beginnings as a Pennsylvania coal miner to his rise as one of the most influential labor leaders of the 21st century, President Trumka's life exemplified the American Dream, and he spent it fighting to bring that dream within reach for millions of working people in the United States and around the world. President Trumka was a steady leader during uncertain times and the labor movement is better today thanks to his bold vision and leadership. My thoughts are with his wife and son, and with his millions of union brothers and sisters around the world."
