Dickinson County Man Extradited from California to Face Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges Against Two Minors

LANSING – Yesterday, Trentin McWilliams, 23, of Norway and most recently residing in California, was arraigned in the 95B District Court in Iron Mountain on seven felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting two minors on separate occasions. McWilliams was extradited to Dickinson County earlier this week by the U.S. Marshals Service to face these charges as part of the ongoing, recently announced, Operation Survivor Justice.

McWilliams is accused of sexually assaulting a child at a relative’s residence in 2018 and was charged with one count of Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Accosting a Child for Immoral Purposes by the Department of Attorney General in July 2024. The defendant was also charged by the Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office with three counts of Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and two counts of Fourth-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in February 2024 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.

Funding was allocated this year for McWilliams’ extradition from the recently announced $1 million state appropriation to fund Operation Survivor Justice. The Operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local County Prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.

“Operation Survivor Justice is already having a profound impact across Michigan and the nation,” Nessel said. “Through our partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, we’ve successfully removed a number of individuals accused of sexual assault from their communities, ensuring they face their charges in court.”

McWilliams will next appear before Judge Julie Lacost in the 95B District Court on October 2 at 11:30 a.m.
