Detroit Man Charged with First-Degree Murder
May 07, 2025
LANSING – Yesterday, Damon Bentley, 27, of Detroit, was arraigned in the 36th District Court on charges related to the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old Westland man, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. He is charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Felony Firearm, and one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
On May 4, 2025, it is alleged that Bentley shot and killed the victim outside the Grand Lofts apartment complex in Southwest Detroit.
“This senseless act of violence took a young man’s life, and my heart is with his family as they face this tragic loss,” Nessel said. “There is no place for this kind of violence in our communities, and my office will continue to hold offenders accountable.”
Bentley is next scheduled to appear before the 36th District Court on May 20.
