Coldwater Man Sentenced 18 to 50 Years for First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct
May 09, 2025
LANSING – Last week, David Miller, 55, of Coldwater, was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Stutesman of the 45th Circuit Court in St. Joseph County to 18 to 50 years’ incarceration for sexually assaulting two minors, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. He was sentenced on May 2 after pleading to two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in February. This follows a related conviction and sentencing in Branch County, prosecuted by the locally elected prosecutor.
Miller sexually assaulted the victims numerous times in Branch and St. Joseph counties. Miller was initially investigated by the Lagrange County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana in March of 2023. During the investigation, authorities obtained information suggesting sexual assaults may have occurred in the State of Michigan, and Michigan State Police launched a separate investigation into allegations that ultimately led to charges and convictions in St. Joseph and Branch counties.
“I am grateful for the collaborative efforts of the prosecutors in my office, the Branch County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the Lagrange County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the Lagrange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Michigan State Police, who all worked together to ensure justice for the victims in this case,” said Nessel. “Because of their dedication, we secured significant prison time while sparing the victims from the trauma of a trial.”
Earlier this year, Miller was sentenced in Branch County to up to 15 years’ incarceration after pleading to two counts of Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and other charges. These charges were brought by the Branch County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. All counts were charged in respect to the same two minor male victims.
His sentences will run concurrently.
