Attorney General Nessel on DOE Releasing Previously Withheld Title Funds

LANSING – The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has begun notifying states that previously withheld Title funds will now be released to schools. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who joined a coalition of 22 states in suing the Trump Administration over its unconstitutional, unlawful, and arbitrary decision to freeze funding for the six longstanding programs administered by DOE, issued the following statement in response:

“This education funding was approved by Congress to support our students. I’m encouraged to hear that, after we filed our complaint, the Trump Administration is reversing course and moving to release these vital dollars. Michigan schools still await the receipt of these funds, and we will assess our next steps at that time.”
