AG Nessel on MPSC’s Public Comment Forum

LANSING – Today, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued the following statement after the Michigan Public Service Commission held a public comment forum on DTE’s ex parte application for approval of two special contracts to service a 1.4-gigawatt data center in Saline Township:

I'd like to thank every resident who took the time from their evening to watch and participate in MPSC’s public comment forum. While the Commission cannot use tonight's public comments as a basis for approving or denying DTE’s special contracts, they can consider the public sentiment and the significance of the decision before them as they determine whether to grant a contested case hearing.

“It is overwhelmingly clear from both the comments shared tonight and the majority of the nearly 5,000 public comments submitted online that Michigan’s residents share in our concerns and demand transparency. I again urge the MPSC to listen to the people of this State, to whom they should feel dutybound to represent and defend, to do the right thing and deny DTE’s request to approve these special contracts without a full, contested hearing.”
