Wellston Man Charged with Failing to Report or Pay Sales Tax Collected Through Propane Company
December 08, 2025
LANSING – Mark Fischer, 61, of Wellston, was arraigned before Magistrate Laura Millmore of the 54A District Court in Lansing on December 5 for allegedly failing to report or pay sales tax collected through his propane company, Fischer LPG, Inc., from 2019 to 2023, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Fischer has been charged with five counts of Failure to File Tax Return, each a 5-year felony. Fischer LPG, Inc. has also been charged with five counts of Failure to File Tax Return. This matter was referred to the Department of Attorney General by the Michigan Department of Treasury.
“Michiganders pay sales tax to support our schools and our local governments, and attempts to withhold that money undermine the public services we all rely on,” Nessel said. “My office will continue to work with the Michigan Department of Treasury to ensure those who violate our tax laws are held accountable.”
Fischer and Fischer LPG, Inc., are scheduled to appear for a probable cause conference on December 12 before Judge Anthony Flores in the 54A District Court.
