February 12, 2026
LANSING – Gabriel Hetrick, 50, of Bronson, appeared for his Probable Cause Conference today after being arraigned on February 5 before Judge Cynthia Ward of the 54-A District Court in Lansing, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Hetrick has been charged with one count of Making a Terroristic Threat and one count of Malicious Use of a Telecommunications Service for allegedly making threats against “republicans” in a call to the Michigan State Capitol.
On September 17, 2025, Hetrick allegedly called the Michigan State Capitol to inquire about tour availability. During that call, he allegedly stated that he was “going to start hunting republicans I think.”
“Threats against elected officials are serious crimes that can have severe consequences,” said Attorney General Nessel. “Public officials must be able to carry out their roles without fear, and my office will continue to hold those who threaten to harm others accountable.”
Hetrick is scheduled to next appear in the 54-A District Court on February 19, 2026.
