Former Hillsdale County Man Extradited from Kentucky, Arraigned on Two Counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct
March 16, 2026
LANSING – Today, Kevin Murphy, 58, a former Hillsdale County resident most recently residing in Kentucky, was arraigned in the 2B District Court in Hillsdale before Magistrate Rachel Doxtader on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Murphy allegedly sexually assaulted two minor victims in 2025.
Murphy was initially charged by the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office in October 2025. Last week, Murphy was extradited to Michigan from Kentucky through Operation Survivor Justice. The Operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.
“I continue to be grateful for the success of Operation Survivor Justice to extradite fugitives accused of heinous sexual assaults back to Michigan,” said Attorney General Nessel. “We will continue to work to apprehend and prosecute offenders to pursue justice for survivors.”
Murphy will next appear before 2B District Court Judge Megan Stiverson on March 25 at 10 a.m.
