Steps 2 Stability
In 2024, the Michigan State Housing Development Authorized ("MSHDA") received an allocation of $50 million from the Michigan State Legislature for the Housing and Community Development Fund (HCDF). These funds are intended to expand housing supports for the State of Michigan through a variety of projects and services based on identified needs. In reviewing MSHDA's portfolio of programs, shelter diversion and housing navigation services were frequently highlighted for their successful impact on local homeless response system capacity. As these projects have limitations based on geographic scope and ongoing funding, MSHDA prioritized support for a merger of these programs and is investing a statewide allocation of $3 million from the HCDF to that end for Fiscal Year 2026.
