AG Nessel's Legislative Affairs Director Appointed to Wayne County Commission

LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s director of legislative affairs, David Knezek, was appointed unanimously by the Wayne County Commission to the Commission to represent the 8th District. Knezek is filling the remaining term of Commissioner Diane Webb and will be required to run for election to the seat during the 2020 election cycle.

“David Knezek has been an invaluable member of my executive team from the beginning,” said Nessel. “When I hired David, I knew he would have other opportunities to serve his community. I am excited to support him in this new chapter of public service and I am deeply thankful for his service to our department.”

Nessel and Knezek share a commitment to ethics and transparency and, while the law doesn’t prevent Knezek from serving on the Commission and working for the Department simultaneously, they both feel it is important to avoid any perceived conflicts of interest. To that end, Knezek has agreed to stay on board with the Attorney General until a suitable replacement has been selected and transitioned into the role.
