Attorney
The Department of Attorney General (DAG) has over 300 Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) assigned to various divisions and representing state agencies, the Legislature, the Judiciary and Executive Office. Successful candidates are usually hired as an Attorney Staff-E (PDF) (attorneys with extensive experience may be hired at a higher level) with the possibility of future advancement into position levels of Attorney-Senior A (PDF), Attorney Specialist (PDF) and supervisory attorney positions.
The following is a list of minimum and desirable qualifications for a staff attorney position:
- Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law; and
- Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar (Note: Recent law school graduates or experienced attorneys not presently licensed in Michigan may be considered for Legal Assistant appointments and must subsequently become members of the Michigan State Bar to continue their employment.).
