Attorney General Investigator

The Department of Attorney General (DAG) employes over 60 Attorney General Investigators assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division or the Health Care Fraud Division which serve as the central hub for handling all criminal investigations brought before the Department. Within its organizational framework, five distinct sections have been established, each with a unique investigative mandate. These sections include: the Financial Crimes Section, Special Investigations Section, Major Case Section, Executive Protection Section, and Felony Non-Support Section. Additionally, the Agents of the Health Care Fraud Division hold the designation as Michigan’s certified Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The following is a list of minimum qualifications:   

  • At least one year of experience as a peace officer;
  • Must possess MCOLES certification at the time of appointment to the position;
  • Must be a United States citizen;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire;
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a valid Michigan driver’s license;
  • Must possess a satisfactory driving record;
  • Absence of a criminal record of felony convictions which would prohibit the applicant from receiving, possessing, and carrying a firearm; and
  • Positions in this class are test-designated and subject to pre-appointment, random-selection, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Employees Background investigation will be conducted to measure the suitability for law enforcement work.
