Personal Information Collection & Use
The Michigan Department of Attorney General collects the personal information requested on the application form to enroll you in the Address Confidentiality Program and provide address confidentiality services to you. The Department of Attorney General collects this personal information pursuant to 2020 PA 301, MCL 780.851, et seq. Personal information sufficient to verify your identity and prevent fraud is required to participate in the program.
Personal Information Sharing & Visibility
Some of the personal information collected in the ACP application will be shared with other State agencies to provide address confidentiality services to you. This information will be shared when necessary and used in alignment with the purposes of the Address Confidentiality Program. Non-identifying cumulative statistical information about the program may be shared for purposes such as research and funding. Victim advocates and application assistants may see your personal information as they help you with your ACP application.
Personal Information Management
You can update and correct your personal information by updating your information in the ACP system or following the process outlined in the ACP Handbook. You must renew your request to participate in the Address Confidentiality Program every four years and may update your personal information at that time as well.
Storage of Personal Information
Your personal information will be kept securely the length of time required by the applicable retention and disposal schedule. After retention requirements are met, your personal data will be disposed of in a secure manner.
Consent to Collect & Use Personal Information
By creating an account to complete the ACP application and applying to participate in the Address Confidentiality Program, you consent to the State of Michigan collecting this information and using it as described in this notice and 2020 PA 301, MCL 780.851, et seq.
Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw consent for your personal information to be used in the program by completing the steps to withdraw from the program as outlined in the ACP Handbook.
