“State of Housing” Discussion at Mackinac Policy Conference to Feature Federal, State, and Local Housing Leaders
MSHDA to spotlight Bill Pulte, Arthur Jemison in MPC kickoff panel discussion
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) announced a 2025 Mackinac Policy Conference panel focused on the State of Housing, with speakers William J. Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and former homebuilder, community developer, and philanthropist, and Arthur Jemison, Executive Director of the Detroit Housing Commission and former HUD Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary. The discussion will be moderated by Amy Hovey, CEO & Executive Director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
Attendees will hear from Hovey, Pulte, and Jemison on the challenges that the shifting political environment presents to addressing the housing crisis, as well as how their respective organizations are working collaboratively to get more families into homeownership, stabilize monthly rents and energy costs, and build more quality homes, as quickly as possible.
“For Michigan to grow and thrive, we must invest in building more housing, so every Michigander has access to a quality, safe, and affordable place to live,” Hovey said. “We’ve been moving quickly with solutions, but there’s more to accomplish and we know we can’t do it alone. It’s going to take strong, innovative partnerships to meet the housing needs in our state. We are anxious to continue to learn from others in the field and excited to have leaders from the federal government and the City of Detroit join us on Mackinac Island for this engaging panel.”
The State of Housing panel will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Brighton Pavilion in the Grand Hotel.
