LANSING, Mich. — At its June meeting, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Board approved funding for developments in Midland and Wayne counties, supporting the creation or preservation of over 430 housing units across the state.

“Every day we are moving quickly with solutions for our state’s housing shortage, making real progress on making communities better,” said Amy Hovey, MSHDA CEO and Executive Director. “With over 430 homes created or preserved as a result of this month’s board action, we’re continuing to deliver for Michiganders.”

The board approved $31 million in MSHDA funding for the construction of The Dean — Apartments at Eastlawn in Midland. This new development will have 204 units, including 194 designated affordable and five accessible. The Dean will serve a range of income levels and include in-unit laundry, walk-in closets and a community clubhouse.

This new development will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and is located near many community amenities, including grocery stores, public transportation and county parks.

The board also approved the 2026-2027 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP), which lays out the guidelines and priorities for the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program. The QAP will go to Governor Whitmer for her signature.
