About Business Taxes Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Payments

Overview

Treasury accepts and encourages electronic funds transfer (EFT) to pay many business taxes in Michigan. EFT is a safe and efficient; all transactions are governed by nationally established rules that are strictly regulated. EFT is a process that occurs between financial institutions only at your request.

Types of EFT

There are two ways to make EFT payments. Many Treasury business taxes can be paid by either method:

  • EFT Debit transactions authorize pulling funds from a bank account. EFT Debit is available through several Treasury web service systems.
  • EFT Credit transactions authorize pushing funds into a bank account. EFT Credit is performed by initiating the payment from your own financial institution.

Ineligible Tax Types

Treasury does not offer electronic payment for the following business tax types:

  • 9-1-1 Program
  • Airport Parking Tax
  • Bottle Deposit
  • Qualified Heavy Equipment Excise Tax
  • Severance Tax
  • State Convention Facility Development Tax
  • State Real Estate Transfer Tax
