Electronic Payment
Electronic payment is convenient, reliable, and secure. Eliminating mailing costs and uncertainty of when your payment will be received; schedule your payment and receive real-time confirmation via email.
There are three electronic payment options through Michigan Treasury eServices:
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) through a checking or savings account – free of charge
- Debit Card – flat fee of $3.95
- Credit Card – convenience fee of 2.3% of the total payment amount
Debit and credit card fees will appear as a separate transaction on your card statement and are paid directly to the payment processing vendor.
EFT is safe and efficient; all transactions are governed by nationally established rules that are strictly regulated. EFT is a process that occurs between financial institutions only at your request.
An electronic payment cannot be processed if the bank account used for EFT Debit is funded or otherwise associated with a foreign bank account to the extent that the payment transaction would qualify as an International ACH Transaction (IAT) under NACHA Rules. Contact your financial institution for questions about the status of your bank account.
An Automated Clearing House (ACH) Debit Block prevents all electronic transactions from processing unless they are specifically authorized. Generally, to place an ACH Debit Block, the bank account owner enters into an agreement with the financial institution. If you are unsure whether your account has an ACH Debit Block, contact your financial institution and ask.
