Address Change for Individual Income Tax

On the IIT eService, you can use either the Account Services portal or the Guest Services portal to update the active address on file with Treasury. After sending an address change electronically, you will receive a confirmation message. Generally, your address change will take 72 hours to process.

Account Services

1. Access the IIT eService. On the homepage, under the Account Services portal, click sign in under the Account Services menu. Then, enter your MiLogin username and password.
   
   

   Note: MiLogin is a single sign-on application that supports many State of Michigan web platforms, including the IIT eService. To determine if you already have a MiLogin account, view the list of MiLogin supported web applications. If you do not have a MiLogin account, click Create a New Account instead of Sign in on the IIT eService.

2. Select Change My Address. Follow the prompts to update your address information in the applicable tax year. Submit your change to send your request.
   
   

   Note: When you use Account Services through the IIT eService, you are only required to answer the verification questions one time for each tax year as opposed to every time you look up or send information through the Guest Services or Inquiries portals.

3. You will receive a service request number as confirmation of your change. You should receive a response within 72 hours. For more help, visit the eServices Help Center.

Guest Services

1. Access the IIT eService. On the homepage, under the Guest Services portal, click Change My Address.
2. Select the tax year for which you need to update your address. Provide the following information from the return you filed for that tax year:
   • primary filer’s SSN
   • primary filer’s last name
   • tax year
   • filing status
   • Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) or Total Household Resources (THR); if your AGI is negative, enter a minus sign after the number (e.g. 1045-)
3. Follow the prompts to complete the address change. Click submit to send your request.
4. You will receive a service request number as confirmation of your change. You should receive a response within 72 hours. For more help, visit the eServices Help Center.

1. Call 517-636-4486 to connect with the IIT Customer Contact team.
2. Speak with a customer service representative and verify your identity through your tax information.
3. Provide updated address information.
   
   

   Note: Updating your information through the Customer Contact call center can take a variable amount of time to process. However, Customer Contact initiated change requests are generally completed within 30 days. A confirmation number for this change cannot be provided by the IIT Customer Contact team.

2. In your letter, make the request to update your address and provide both the new address and the old address that was on your tax return.
   
   

   Note: Updating your information via mail can take approximately 12 weeks to process. A confirmation number for this change cannot be provided when submitted by mail.
