Managing A Business on MTO FAQs

My business has multiple subsidiary operating units under the corporate entity. How will this structure appear on MTO?

Each subsidiary operating unit will either have its own FEIN or will be operating under the parent company’s FEIN. Each FEIN is treated as a separate business with Treasury. Therefore, each FEIN will have its own business relationship in MTO.

I use different service providers to file and pay my SUW tax returns. How can I delegate access to both in order for them to file and pay on my behalf in MTO, without allowing them access to all of my information?

Each provider will create a user profile in MTO and self-delegate to the business’ FEIN. The appropriate access role is based on business need:

  • Manage Business Account Information – full manage rights include Registration functions and File and Pay SUW return functions. This role allows a user to add and update registration information along with the ability to file, pay, amend, print and view print filed returns.
  • File and Pay Sales, Use and Withholding Taxes Only – this role allows a user to file, pay, amend, print and view filed SUW tax returns.
  • Fast File SUW Now – This is a guest access where no business relationship is established therefore shared secret questions are not answered and an access code is not required. With Fast File SUW Now, there are limited capabilities; the user is restricted to simply filing and paying a Sales, Use and Withholding tax return and the user is not able to amend, view or print returns.

I use a service provider to file and pay some of my SUW taxes but other SUW taxes, I prepare in house. How does this work in MTO?

Each service provider or internal employee will create a user profile in MTO and self-delegate to the business’ FEIN.

I have assigned one employee to handle my Sales and Use Tax and a different employee to handle my Withholding Tax. Can they both have access to my business on MTO in order to file and pay?
