Stamping Machine Equipment Compensation

Upgrades to Equipment or Technology

Under Michigan law, an eligible stamping agent may be compensated for certain upgrades to technology and equipment that are necessary to affix encrypted digital cigarette tax stamps.

The following items while not a complete list, provide examples of common upgrades to equipment and technology which may be eligible for compensation.

Requests for compensation can be requested using Form 5191, Application for Compensation for Certain Upgrades to Cigarette Tax Stamping Technology and Equipment.

  • Cameras

    To collect product and stamp information

  • Logic Controllers

    Programmable logic controller required for machine MSA interface

  • Monitors

    For displaying information to operator

  • Handheld Scanners

    To collect product and stamp information

  • MSA System & Tax Stamp Computers

    For reading and tracking stamp data

  • Software

    For operation of stamping machine and operator interface

  • Motors

    Drive or machine motors required to transport carton through stamping machine

  • Other Equipment

    Must meet the same eligibility requirements
