The Michigan Department of Treasury has been made aware that some "Reminder of Tax Due" letters sent to taxpayers contain an incorrect toll-free (1-800) TTY number, which may connect callers to a potential scam. Taxpayers with questions regarding unpaid individual income taxes are asked to contact the Treasury directly at 517-636-4486. We apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused.
What should I do if my check/draft has been damaged?
If you still have the remains of the check/draft, you can mail it to Michigan Department of Treasury with a request for a replacement.

If you have moved, include your new address and daytime phone number. Allow 16 weeks for the replacement check/draft to be received.
In case the check/draft cannot be returned, you will need to allow 4 weeks from the date the refund was issued before requesting a replacement.
