Author Tour, Night For Notables Celebration Highlight 2024 Michigan Notable Books

March 26, 2024

LANSING – Fifty Michigan libraries will host authors whose works were honored as 2024 Michigan Notable Books, the Library of Michigan announced.

The 2024 Michigan Notable Books Author Tour will be held from April through June. In addition to the author tour, another way to connect with the 2024 Michigan Notable Books authors is during the annual Night for Notables celebration on Saturday, April 20, at the Library of Michigan.

The Michigan Notable Books program annually selects 20 of the most outstanding books published in the previous calendar year that reflect Michigan's diverse ethnic, historical, literary, and cultural experiences.

“One of the great aspects of the Michigan Notable Books program is connecting authors with people across Michigan, especially in communities that don’t always have opportunities to meet with high-caliber writers,” said State Librarian Randy Riley. “It’s wonderful to hear the conversations at these author events as each title celebrates the uniqueness of life in Michigan.”

A list of author tour events is available at www.Michigan.gov/NotableBooks.

“As a promoter of literacy and reading, I appreciate the Michigan Notable Books Author Tour and the annual Night for Notables,” said State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice. “The Library of Michigan does a great job, and these events in collaboration with our partners are wonderful ways to show off the diverse group of authors that we have right here in Michigan.”

The Night for Notables event will feature two-time Michigan Notable Books recipient Stephen Mack Jones (“August Snow” and “Dead of Winter”) as the keynote speaker. Attendees can meet with Notable authors throughout the celebration. Please visit the Library of Michigan Foundation’s website at www.libraryofmichiganfoundation.com/mnbnightfornotables to learn further details and to register for the event.

The Michigan Notable Books program and author tour are made possible through the support of the Library of Michigan, Library of Michigan Foundation, Michigan Humanities, and other sponsors that are listed on the Library of Michigan Foundation’s Sponsor Acknowledgement page.
