Vertical Files
The vertical files collection at the Library of Michigan includes news clippings, booklets, maps, pictures, pamphlets, brochures, or other content that is organized in folders and arranged by subject. It is often material that is too small to be cataloged and added as an individual item, but still relevant for researchers.
Using the Vertical Files
The vertical file collection is divided up into 2 primary categories: Subject and Biographical. Each are then organized alphabetically in file folders. Once a vertical file folder is used, please return it to one of the trays on top of the cabinets for reshelving.
