Newspapers are a vital resource for local history, genealogy and other research needs. The Library of Michigan has the state's largest collection of Michigan newspapers. The collection's holdings span the 200-year history of the state's newspaper publishing industry.

Newspaper Resources is a hub site featuring online sources for state and national newspapers. Most collections are free to use and keyword searchable.
Michigan newspapers available on microfilm arranged by county. Years of coverage are noted with detailed holdings to be found on the Library catalog, Answercat.org. Newspaper reels are available to Michigan libraries through Interlibrary Loan. Out-of-state libraries may request copies of articles.
