The county was organized in 1833 and named after John C. Calhoun. Some points of interests are: Albion College founded in 1835. Over 100 years ago, W.K. Kellogg founded the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company which would be renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922.
