Macomb

Macomb County was formed from Wayne County in Michigan territorial days, on January 15, 1818 [Terr. Papers U.S. 10:772]. Over the following 15 years, it both gained and lost ground from Oakland and St. Clair counties. The county is named for Alexander Macomb Jr., veteran of the War of 1812 and later Commanding General of the U.S. Army.
