The Michigan Department of Treasury has been made aware that some "Reminder of Tax Due" letters sent to taxpayers contain an incorrect toll-free (1-800) TTY number, which may connect callers to a potential scam. Taxpayers with questions regarding unpaid individual income taxes are asked to contact the Treasury directly at 517-636-4486. We apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused.
Will I be notified if my payment is not accepted?
ACH payments (eCheck) are not verified in real-time. Therefore, you will receive a payment acceptance/confirmation response upon completion of an eCheck payment. If funds are not able to be withdrawn from your account, you will receive a notification from Paymentus and your bank will notify the State of Michigan of the specific reason the payment was declined. The Michigan Department of Treasury will then update your Individual Income Tax account to show taxes are still owed.
