Library Continuing Education Program
The Library of Michigan is committed to providing continuing education opportunities for library staff in Michigan. However, during these uncertain times, conferences and workshops may be canceled.
- If you have been approved for stipend for an event that is canceled AND can attend another event that ends by September 30th, we will reassign your stipend to the new event. You MUST notify us of the new event. If you cannot attend another event that ends by September 30th, you are welcome to apply for another event that takes place Oct. 1st or later.
- If you have applied for an event that has been canceled, we will decline the application and welcome an application for another event.
Please note the next quarterly review deadline, March 31st, has been extended to April 30th. If you have applied for a stipend and your event has been cancelled or postponed, please contact Evette Atkin at email@example.com.
The Library of Michigan strives to support libraries’ efforts to provide quality service and programming to their communities. A major element of excellent service is empowering library staff to learn and implement new skills and best practices. The Librarian Continuing Education program helps by providing financial support for library staff continuing education.
Michigan public, academic and school library staff are eligible to apply for continuing education stipends. The program details and criteria are listed in the program criteria document. Please read the criteria and the application questions BEFORE submitting an application online. You can apply at any time and your application will be considered at the end of each quarter as listed in the timeline below.
LIbrary staff members who have not received a stipend in the last year and libraries who have not had a staff member receive a stipend in the last year are given priority in the application review.
