This presentation introduces ableism as a systemic form of discrimination that affects people with disabilities in everyday interactions, policies, and practices. Participants will explore common examples of ableism, including language and assumptions, and how these behaviors impact access and inclusion.
Instructor: Miranda Grunwell is a passionate advocate and educator with over 20 years of experience in the disability rights field. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grand Valley State University and serves as the Community Education Program Manager for Disability Network Southwest Michigan. As a person with a learning disability, Miranda understands firsthand the challenges people with disabilities face in an ableist world. She is committed to fostering a community where everyone benefits from full access and inclusion.
