Advanced Director Workshop

The Advanced Directors Workshop Pathway is a self-paced, online course accessed within the Library of Michigan's Niche Staff Skills Academy. The pathway consists of several courses taking approximately 6 hours to complete and provides new library directors with an introduction to concepts and information to support their work as administrators of public libraries.

Completion of the online pathway is necessary for director certification as part of the qualification criteria for State Aid to Public Libraries.  All are welcome to complete portions or all of the content while it is a requirement for Class 4, 5, and 6 directors to complete the entire pathway within two years of their initial appointment.

TIPS!

  • Participants do not have to notify LM of their completion of the course. LM regularly checks Niche for records of completion.
  • Those required to complete this course should create only one profile in the Niche system to complete the lessons. If you complete individual pieces under different logins you will not be able to complete the entire pathway and receive your certificate without taking the individual parts multiple times.
