Taxpayers Accessing Their Own Accounts
There's Different Levels of Access Required, Depending On What You Need to Do
To access any of the services in your your account, you must first go to the Citizen Portal.
Level 1 Access: Guest Services
You do not need to log in to use Guest Services. However, you will need to provide information about yourself and your tax account.
Guest Services allow you to:
- Check your refund status
- Make a Payment
- Respond to a Letter
- Verify your identity
- Review the status of your electronic submissions
- Utilize Mack the chatbot.
Level 2 Access: Logged In Services
You must log in with MiLogin Citizen from the Citizen Portal landing page to use Logged In Services.
Logged in Services allow you to:
- File the Michigan Individual Income Tax Return directly to Treasury for free
- File Home Heating Credit claim
- Send and receive messages with Treasury
- Manage your user profile
- Review the status of your electronic submissions
- Utilize Mack the chatbot.
Level 3 Access: Connected Services
You must be logged in with MiLogin Citizen just like Level 2 Access and have also connected your account by verifying your identity.
Connected Services allow you to do everything you could at Level 2 and:
- View payments and balances
- Including Estimated Payments
- Make a Payment
- View filed tax returns and information by tax period
- Review the status of your electronic submissions
- View or respond to letters
- Submit Power of Attorney authorization for a third party
- View and manage third-party accesses and requests
- Update your tax account information
