Individual Income Tax Tips
Third-Party Communication Tips

  1. The MiTreasury eServices - Citizen Portal is for individual taxpayers to access their own accounts. Third parties (including but not limited to tax professionals, service providers, and attorneys) should use the MiTreasury eServices - Business Portal.

Using the correct portal ensures users can access the tools designed for their needs and keeps taxpayer information secure.

  2. Send Power of Attorney (POA) forms directly to the Treasury processing area you need to interact with.

POA forms must go to the specific business area that will be working the tax account. Sending a POA form to the wrong area delays routing and review.

Send POA to Michigan Individual Income Tax:

    • Online: The taxpayer can complete the POA authorization through the MiTreasury eServices - Citizen Portal after connecting to their Michigan Individual Income Tax account.
