Library of Michigan
Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions this event was not held in 2020. Individuals that needed to attend this event to meet the staffing requirements for State Aid to Public Libraries purposes will be provided with a waiver. An online course will be released in summer 2021 to replace the in-person version of the content.
This is an online course, to be available in fall of 2021, providing directors with an introduction to the information necessary to administer a public library in Michigan. This includes providing an opportunity to gain an understanding of services and programs related to Library of Michigan that can support a director in carrying out their responsibilities. Attendance at the workshop is necessary for director certification as part of the qualification criteria for State Aid to Public Libraries. Current standards for State Aid for Public Libraries require Classes 4, 5, and 6 directors to complete the Advanced Directors Workshop within 2 years of initial appointment. The Advanced Director Workshop is supported with funds from the Library of Michigan Foundation and is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Visit the New Director Workshop page for details about that event.
