YESA Changes Webinar With Mike Blum
In 2024 the Michigan legislature amended the Youth Employment Standards Act (YESA) to revise the process by which work permits are issued. The changes include a new online registration system for employers and minor employees as well as changes in the hours that a minor 16 or under may work. This session will discuss these changes and how they can affect library employment and engagement of minor employees and volunteers.
After this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the new work permit process and how the new process will affect the library's current processes.
- Identify and be able to locate the newly implemented YESA registration tool as a step in the work permit process.
- Describe the new hours limitations of minor employees and volunteers.
Instructor: Mike Blum is a Labor and Employment Attorney with Foster, Swift, Collins and Smith, and works with libraries across the state on labor and employment matters.
