Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) seeks to create, promote, and foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within DTMB for all individuals by supporting, celebrating, and respecting unique differences.
In 2021, we hired our first ever equity and inclusion officer. The position serves as a member of our senior leadership team, leading the department’s diversity and inclusion efforts and establishing priorities to ensure a sustainable, high-performing organization and workforce.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
DTMB launched the department's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in 2019 to diversify the voices heard at the leadership table and celebrate diversity. This committee gives employees the opportunity to learn about the different thoughts, backgrounds, and experiences that are represented in DTMB. The committee proposes, develops, and helps implement initiatives to make our team more inclusive and equitable. Areas of focus include:
- Awareness and recognition
- Career and leadership development
- Policy
- Special projects team
- Training and education
Employee Resource Groups
DTMB Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are employee-led, self-directed voluntary groups that offer opportunities to network internally, attract a diverse employee base, provide ideas and solutions, and create opportunities for informal mentoring and professional development based on shared characteristics or life experiences. DTMB ERGs include:
- ABLE - advocates for the awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of persons with disabilities by providing resources, support, and education for DTMB employees with, and without disabilities.
- Veterans - advocates for a community of support for veterans in DTMB and across state government.
- Women's Leadership Alliance - provides a space for conversations across DTMB for women, and their allies, focused on the specific concerns women face in work life balance, career advancement, relationship building, and support of one another.
