About the State Administrative Board

Per P.A. 2 of 1921, the State Administrative Board (Ad Board) has general supervisory control over the administrative activities of all state departments and agencies. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • The approval of contracts and leases.
  • Oversight of the state capitol outlay process.
  • The settlement of claims against the State under $1,000.00.

The State Administrative Board functions through three standing committees that make recommendations to the Board.

State Ad Board Membership

The State Administrative Board members are the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Director of the Department of Transportation. The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) designates a Secretary to the State Administrative Board and provides staff support.

Meetings occur approximately twice a month per resolution of the State Administrative Board. For meeting dates, time, and locations, see the Current State Administrative Board Calendar

NOTE: State Administrative Board meetings typically last no more than five minutes. If you plan on attending arrive early to find parking and get to the meeting room.

  • Finance and Claims Committee
  • Building Committee
  • Transportation and Natural Resources Committee

Committees & Committee Documents

The State Administrative Board functions through three standing committees that make recommendations to the Board.:

  • Building Committee
  • Finance & Claims Committee
  • Transportation & Natural Resources Committee

Each committee has their own agendas and other documents associated with how they function. Committee specific documents, including agendas, are available on the Committee and Committee Documents page. The State Administrative Board's current calendar will have meeting dates, locations, and times.


The deadline to get materials for the Finance and Claims Committee to Shelby Troub (troubs1@michigan.gov), the Secretary of the State Administrative Board, 1st Floor NE, Constitution Hall is noon on Monday, two weeks before the Finance and Claims Committee date.
