Eric Swanson serves as the acting chief information officer for the State of Michigan, directing the state’s technology and security efforts.
Swanson is a dedicated public servant, having spent more than 35 years as a state employee. He began his career in state government as a student intern and steadily built the Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) within DTMB, which he continues to lead as director. The CSS provides cost-effective, state-of-the-art, shared solutions to all State of Michigan agencies and external partnership programs.
Throughout his career, Swanson has been instrumental in building trust among teams and leading projects to successful implementation. Within Michigan and nationally, Swanson is known for his innovative leadership in facilitating collaboration among local and state partners to develop cross-boundary solutions. His citizen-centric leadership philosophy improves efficiency, promotes transparency, and provides value to Michiganders.
