Many adults approach technology classes convinced they’re “just bad at tech,” making confidence, not skill, the biggest barrier to learning. This hands-on session shares simple teaching strategies, supportive language, and practical demonstrations library staff can use immediately to reduce tech anxiety and build trust. Attendees will leave with concrete tools for helping hesitant learners gain confidence, feel successful, and keep coming back for help.

As a result of this program, attendees will:

  • Apply simple, proven teaching strategies to reduce tech anxiety and build confidence in hesitant adult learners
  • Use supportive, approachable language that fosters trust and encourages continued engagement
  • Implement practical, hands-on techniques that help learners experience quick wins and feel successful immediately

This project is made possible by grant funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the State of Michigan through the Library of Michigan.
