DTMB's new MiBid surplus site highlighted in Oct. 25 Government Technology article

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget’s (DTMB) newly revamped MiBid auction site for surplus sales was recently highlighted in an Oct. 25 article from Government Technology.

The article explores how DTMB developed an in-house website for surplus sales that would enhance security and provider a greater end-user experience. A previous site was hosted by a third-party vendor, but as that contract neared expiration, the idea of hosting the site internally blossomed. In addition, by creating and hosting the new MiBid site in-house, DTMB projects and annual savings of nearly $250,000.

The new site launch was a large project that required multiple team leaders and a collaboration between Ron Turner, surplus services supervisor; Ryan Latourette, IT manager; and Navpreet Gothra, IT project manager. The team addressed several challenges during the project, including supporting real-time updates on a public-facing security and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Before launching the new platform, the team spent hours testing to make sure it met requirements.
