On Tuesday, March 9, during the Pensions & Investments annual East Coast Defined Contribution Conference, it was announced that the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) and Voya Financial had received third place in the 2021 Eddy Awards under the Special Projects category.
The joint entry submitted was the Connect with Your Future email campaign. This was a communication plan targeting 41,588 Michigan Public School Employees' Retirement System members with a defined contribution component. Historically, this group has poor engagement with their retirement accounts, despite receiving previous emails and publications.
The Connect with Your Future email campaign consisted of four separate emails. Each email was inviting, educational, and a quick, easy read. They were sent over a six-week period between August and September 2020. Each email had its own theme tied to Connect with Your Future, a tip of the day, and a call to action that could be accomplished within five minutes.
