MVAA Director Adam Hollier presents DTMB Director Michelle Lange with Gold-level Veteran-Friendly Employer recognition

On Monday, Oct. 2, Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) military veterans gathered at the Michigan Library and Historical Center with DTMB Director Michelle Lange and Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Director Adam Hollier to celebrate the department earning the Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer status from MVAA. Following a presentation and remarks, attendees enjoyed a reception to celebrate the recognition.

The ceremony included remarks from Joe Saur, MVAA project coordinator, about MVAA’s Veteran-Friendly Employer program. Next, Hollier spoke about the importance and value of military member and how they enrich work environments and our communities.

Lange accepted the award on behalf of the DTMB’s veterans and employees. She talked about the important role veterans have at DTMB, their service to our country, and the work DTMB does to support veterans working at the department and across Michigan.

“It is a great day for the over 220 military veterans that are part of the DTMB family,” Lange said.

DTMB is committed to recruiting, hiring, and retaining military veterans to bring the talent and experience former service members possess into the department. In August 2020, DTMB earned the MVAA Bronze-level Veteran-Friendly Employer status and earned the Silver-level in November 2021.

MVAA recognizes employers that commit to military veteran recruitment, training, and retention practices by awarding those employers with gold, silver, and bronze level status as Veteran-Friendly Employers. MVAA’s Veteran-Friendly Employer program helps qualified organizations recruit and retain top veteran talent while providing others a road map to improve their recruitment efforts.

MVAA assists employers as they move through the program to improve efforts to recruit and retain high-quality veteran candidates. Employers who meet the program criteria are publicly recognized by MVAA and able to use the gold, silver, or bronze Michigan Veteran-Friendly badge to market themselves to protentional veteran applicants.
