DTMB receives four public relations awards for campaigns and tactics in 2021 PACE Awards Program

2021 CMPRSAThe Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) recently received four PACE Awards, including a coveted People's Choice Award, during a virtual awards ceremony from the Central Michigan Public Relations Society of America (CMPRSA).

The PACE Awards are mid-Michigan's highest honor of public relations activities and are awarded annually to practitioners who, in the judgment of their (out-of-state) peers, have successfully addressed a contemporary issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity, and resourcefulness.

"DTMB was honored to be recognized in CMPRSA's 2021 PACE Award program," stated, Caleb Buhs, communications director with DTMB. "This recognition, including a People's Choice Award, highlights the important work and impact government communications can have in the lives of its employees and all Michiganders." 

DTMB's 2021 PACE Awards include:

  • A Tactic Video Program Excellence Award for the DTMB Employee Touchpoints, an innovative video program to increase employee engagement and disseminate critical information during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A People's Choice Tactic Award for the DTMB Employee Touchpoints video program. As part of the awards program, guests of the event had the chance to select their favorite overall campaign and tactic for the prestigious People's Choice Awards. DTMB received the most votes in the tactic awards category.
  • The Michigan Census Team, part of DTMB, received a first-place Integrated Communications Campaign Pinnacle Award for the Michigan 2020 Census "Be Counted" campaign in partnership with Güd Marketing.
  • The Michigan Census Team also received Tactic Television Public Service Announcement (PSA) Pinnacle Award for a Michigan Census TV PSA featuring Claressa Shields, Olympic gold medal-winning boxer and Flint native in partnership with Güd Marketing.

This year's awards follow a 2020 Organizational Relations Campaign Pinnacle Award for DTMB's Help. Connect. Solve. - the official rollout of the DTMB strategic plan.

More than 300 organizations have been recognized by CMPRSA for excellence in public relations over the past two decades. The PACE Awards program includes non-profit organizations, corporations and public and private agencies in Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Gratiot, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston and Shiawassee counties.
