State of Michigan receives national recognition for innovative technology projects

Michigan is recognized as finalist in three government technology award categories

The State of Michigan is a finalist in three award categories for the State IT Recognition Awards. The announcement was made Oct. 10 by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO), which hosts the annual awards recognizing excellence in government technology initiatives. The awards celebrate transformational projects that address critical business problems, improve business processes, and elevate user experience.

The State of Michigan submitted seven projects for recognition in 2025, earning finalist status in the Cybersecurity, Cross-Boundary Collaboration, and State CIO Office Special Recognition categories. The state’s projects were among 31 finalists across 10 categories, selected from more than 130 entries. An overall award winner will be named in each category at the annual NASCIO conference in Denver, Oct. 12-15.

“The State of Michigan is committed to improving our IT services and programs for the people who visit, live, work, and do business in Michigan,” said Laura Clark, chief information officer (CIO) with the State of Michigan. “We are honored to be recognized by NASCIO as finalists this year for delivering transformational projects in state government.”

In 2024, the State of Michigan was named a finalist in two categories and was recognized as the overall winner in the State CIO Office Special Recognition category.
