Volunteer of the Year - Ann T. Fillmore
Ann T. Fillmore is a highly respected volunteer who helps generate positive change to address issues in the mid-Michigan region. She has served with numerous boards and nonprofits helping a variety of community causes. Ann served as a member of the Safe Communities coalition helping Midland to become the 19th community in the nation, and the first in Michigan, to receive designation as a Safe Community by the National Safety Council’s Safe Communities America Program. She served on the board of directors with 211 NE Michigan to establish the state’s largest 211 service region connecting people in need with community resources. Ann worked with local, state and federal agencies to create the Long-term Disaster Recovery Group during the 2017 mid-Michigan flood, which affected thousands across the Great Lakes Bay Region. She chaired this group to help facilitate the regional collaborative recovery efforts. Ann also served as a member of the Michigan Department of Education After School Partnership Council to support the development and growth of statewide policies to secure resources needed for quality after-school programs. She encouraged Northwood University students to be engaged in volunteerism and ensured that future generations will carry on a legacy of generosity
