The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

As of April 20, 2026, MRS has implemented updated policy to allow for statewide expansion for Customized Employment (CE) services. In May of 2026, MRS facilitated several vendor information sessions pertaining to CE referral and reporting requirements. If you were unable to attend these sessions, you may find a recording of one of the sessions at LEO - MRS for Vendors.
This link also includes the attachments for the required report forms. All approved Customized Employment vendors must use these forms in service delivery. If you are interested in becoming a Vendor for CE, please contact LEO-MIVR-CEGeneral@michigan.gov.
To facilitate continued support for vendors in delivering CE services, MRS will be hosting monthly Communities of Practice. The purpose of these one-hour optional sessions is to allow vendors the time for open discussion and questions related to CE.
