Build Michigan's Infrastructure Workforce Program
Build Michigan's Infrastructure Workforce Program
Setting Michigan up for a brighter future!
Everyone deserves access to basic necessities like high-speed internet, clean water, state-of-the-art infrastructure and economic growth. And the current unprecedented state and federal investments in infrastructure have the possibility to transform communities and create new opportunities for workers today — while building new industries for tomorrow’s workforce.
On April 29, 2024, Governor Whitmer signed the Building Up Michigan’s Workforce and Infrastructure executive directive to ensure Michigan has the workforce needed to maximize historic federal and state infrastructure investments and to build the diverse, inclusive workforce of the future.

Goals of the program
To accomplish these goals, The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity will work with other State of Michigan agencies and departments such as the Department of Transportation, the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office and the Michigan Infrastructure Office to create a robust outreach and engagement strategy that includes you!
Be part of the plan — sign up to have your voice heard!
LEO and partnering departments will engage workers, industry, labor, training and education partners, and workforce development agencies in communities across the state as part of the implementation of this directive.
